The Jubilee concept according to the Hebrew scriptures = Sabbath. Each 7th day you shall rest. God commanded this, didn't say, "Hey, take a break if you feel like it." Why? Because if we don't care for ourselves and our relationships, we can't be at our best. Each 7th year was a Sabbath year. And after the 7th Sabbath Year was Jubilee, a special 50th Sabbath year! So you got two Sabbath type years back to back. But that happened less than once in every generation, so it must have been really important. A time to not only look back and rejoice, but to look forward in hope.
The biblical idea of Jubilee -- "a time for celebration, reflection on our life with God, and looking forward to greater faithfulness". - Rod

Apr 27 St Andrew's Choir With A Voice of Singing
St. Andrew’s Sr. Choir presented its Jubilee Concert. Joining us were ReVoice, a choir of the CPO program, also under the direction of Karen Nell-Bennett. The evening was a program of music ranging from traditional choral works, gospel, world music and folk. The mass choir - some 80 voices - ably sang two spirituals to finish, joined by a standing congregation on the last chorus. Visiting German Cellist Linus Weber brilliantly performed between choir sets. Able piano accompanists were Meghan Behiel and Cheryl Emery. The evening ended with a well-attended reception hosted by the choirs.
All proceeds go toward a new $40000 Yamaha C3(?) Grand piano to be in place for our Jubilee anniversary date, Sun Nov 2.
